Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...High pressure will prevail across the Gulf waters through the middle of the week. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will persist over the western Gulf through today before diminishing briefly. A weak cold front will move off the coast of Texas tonight into Tue, extend along the northern Gulf through Tue, then move NE of the area Tue night. Another cold front is forecast to enter the NW Gulf waters by Thu morning. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will once again develop over the western Gulf Tue night through Wed night ahead of the second front, which will reach from Cedar Key, Florida to near Tampico, Mexico early on Fri, and from the Straits of Florida to near Veracruz, Mexico Fri night. The front will exit the basin on Sat. Fresh to strong northerly winds and building seas will follow this front. Rough seas to 12 ft in long period NW swell in the wake of the front will shift east of the area on Tue. An area of low pressure will develop near the southern Bahamas tonight into early Tue. The pressure gradient between the low and high pressure to the north will support fresh to strong winds and moderate to rough seas across the central and southern Bahamas tonight through Tue. The low pressure will stall over that region and then open into a surface trough Wed while shifting westward to eastern Cuba through Thu. The next cold front will enter the NE Florida offshore waters Tue night before stalling and lifting N of the area late Wed.
