The axis of an Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is near 22W, from 20N southward, moving westward 10 knots to 15 knots. Nearby convection is discussed in the monsoon trough/ITCZ section below. The axis of an Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is near 48W, from 20N southward, moving westward at 10 to 15 knots. Nearby convection is discussed in the monsoon trough/ITCZ section below. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends off the coast of Africa near 16N16W to 09N29W to 08N52W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 10N between 22W and 51W. ...GULF OF MEXICO... A weak pressure gradient over the Gulf of Mexico is supporting gentle to locally moderate winds, and seas of 1-3 ft. For the forecast, an upper-level disturbance will support scattered moderate to locally strong convection across the northern and eastern Gulf today. Gusty winds and locally rough seas will be possible near convection. Otherwise, a weak pressure gradient will maintain gentle to locally moderate winds and slight seas through this week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA... Gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 3-5 ft, are over the central and eastern Caribbean. Mainly gentle winds, and seas of 2-3 ft prevail over the western Caribbean. For the forecast, moderate to locally fresh NE to E winds will pulse off the coast of Hispaniola through much of this week. Locally fresh E to NE winds will be possible off the coast of Venezuela and Colombia by Wed. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas will prevail. ...ATLANTIC OCEAN... A surface trough extends from 31N52W to 19N56W. Scattered moderate convection is near the trough axis. High pressure prevails elsewhere over the tropical and subtropical waters N of 20N. Gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 4-6 ft are found N of 20N and W of 40W. Moderate to fresh winds, and seas of 6-7 ft, prevail N of 20N and E of 40W. S of 20N, gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 4-7 ft, prevail. For the forecast W of 55W, an upper- level disturbance will support scattered moderate to locally strong convection over the Bahamas and off the coast of Florida today.
