Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0830 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 33W from 07N to 20N, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the monsoon trough/ITCZ section below. The axis of a tropical wave is near 61W, from 20N southward, moving westward at 15 kt. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is in the vicinity of the wave axis. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough enters the Atlantic Ocean through the coast of Mauritania near 21N17W and continues SW to near 13N26W to 12N43W. The ITCZ continues from 12N43W to 12N56W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 04N to 10N between 12W and 23W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted from 07N to 13N between 30W and 42W, and from 08N to 11N between 42W and 56W. ...GULF OF MEXICO... A loose pressure gradient is supporting gentle winds across much of the Gulf of Mexico, except reaching moderate speeds over the SE Gulf. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range. For the forecast, a weak pressure gradient will maintain gentle winds and slight seas through the remainder of the week and upcoming weekend. ...CARIBBEAN SEA... Moderate to fresh winds, and seas of 3-4 ft, prevail over the central Caribbean. Gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 2-3 ft, are over the eastern Caribbean. Gentle winds, and seas of 1-3 ft, are noted in the western Caribbean. For the forecast, moderate to locally fresh NE to E winds will pulse off the coast of Hispaniola into the weekend. Locally fresh E to NE winds will pulse nightly off the coast of Venezuela and Colombia. ...ATLANTIC OCEAN... A surface trough extends from 30N59W to 24N62W, with a 1018 mb low pressure along the trough axis near 27N61W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted within 90 nm N of the low center. A second surface trough extends from 31N68W to 26N73W. Scattered moderate convection is noted along the trough axis. Gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 3-5 ft, prevail over the waters N of 20N and W of 55W.
