Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0830 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 36W from 07N to 20N, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the monsoon trough/ITCZ section below. The axis of a tropical wave is near 66W, S of 20N, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered showers are near the wave axis. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough enters the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa near 15N18W to 13N52W. The ITCZ continues from 12N52W to 13N60W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is from 05N to 13N from 26W eastward to western Africa. This activity is ahead of the next tropical wave nearing the west coast of Africa. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is from 05N to 14N between 32W and 60W. ...GULF OF MEXICO... A weak pressure gradient prevails over the Gulf of Mexico supporting gentle to locally moderate winds, and seas of 1-3 ft. For the forecast, a weak pressure gradient will maintain gentle winds and slight seas through the remainder of the week and upcoming weekend. ...CARIBBEAN SEA... Fresh to strong winds, and seas of 6-8 ft, prevail over the south central Caribbean. Moderate to fresh winds, and seas of 4-5 ft, are over the north central Caribbean.
