At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the ragged eye of Hurricane Frank was
located near latitude 22.0 North, longitude 118.7 West. Frank is
moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this
general motion is expected to continue for the next two days.
Satellite images indicate that the maximum sustained winds have
increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change
in strength is expected during the next several hours, but a
weakening trend should begin on Wednesday.
Frank is a small tropical cyclone. Hurricane-force winds extend
outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center, and tropical-
storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km).
The estimated minimum central pressure is 979 mb (28.91 inches).
